Filling the void... | VOIID - SILLY GIRL (single release)
Raucus all-girl punk outfit VOIID (the extra i is for infectious) have released their new single 'Silly Girl' - a snarling swipe at girls of the lying, pretentious or downright silly persuasion.
The single backs up a bumper year for the Brisbane/Gold Coast group who spent 2017 releasing their Debut EP ‘Pussy Oriented’, sharing the stage with the likes of Grinspoon, DZ Deathrays and Camp Cope as well as receiving Triple J airplay for their single 'Galaxy'.
'Silly Girl' continues their momentum by combining the catchiness of The Ramones with a Lilly Allen attitude, reminiscent to 2000s punkers, Spazzys. Throughout the track, the girls insult whilst seemingly smiling at the same time - kind of the musical equivalent of a Gene Wilder meme. It will leave you feeling as happy as Christopher Pyne riding a tram, filling a void left in Australian punk music.
VOIID are currently in the midst of the Summer Tour in support of the single, which includes stopovers in Sydney, Newcastle, Lennox Head, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Gold Coast.
