MARVEL | 'Spider-Man: Homecoming' out now!

Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, young Peter Parker returns home to live with his Aunt May. Under the watchful eye of mentor Tony Stark, Parker starts to embrace his newfound identity as Spider-Man, but not before trying to return to his normal daily routine. Peter must soon put his powers to the test when the evil Vulture emerges to threaten everything that he holds dear.

‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ is not only the first solo film for Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, but also the first ‘Spider-Man’ film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, following a 15 year-old Peter Parker, works as both a highly humorous high school comedy/drama, as well a strong standalone film in the MCU.

Holland was born to play Spider-Man. He did everything better than his predecessors (Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield). Holland, the youngest Spider-Man onscreen, further makes his version of Peter Parker more convincing as a good-natured kid who is in way over his head.

The Spider-Man suit is awesome, as we are shown that there is a lot more to the suit now than ever before, including its own AI system (voiced by Jennifer Connelly). The homemade suit is awesome to see onscreen, as was a surprise third suit that we saw a glimpse of, that will perhaps be used in future Marvel films.

As always, a superhero is only as good as its villain. With Michael Keaton playing Adrian Toomes/Vulture, he hit the ball out of the park, definitely becoming one of the best developed villains in the MCU.

When we begin to learn more about Vulture, we wonder whether he is a true villain, or a flawed character trying to salvage his company after contracted to clean up the city following an Avengers event in New York City. However, the operation was quickly taken over by Tony Stark U.S Department of Damage Control, and enraged at being driven out of business, Toomes persuades his employees to keep the Chitauri technology they already scavenged, and to create advanced weapons to sell on the black market instead.

So, what do you think? Villain or a man making the most of a bad situation? Either way, Keaton is an excellent addition to this film, making Vulture a menacing yet awesome villain to follow.

‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ is without a doubt the best 'Spider-Man' film ever, especially for diehard MCU fans. Viewers will not be disappointed.

You will see ‘Spider-Man’ again in ‘Avengers 3’ and ‘4’, as well ‘Spider-Man 2’, which is said to be released after ‘Avengers 4’. It may turn out that ‘Homecoming’ is an important addition to the future of the franchise, with potentially ‘Spider-Man 2’ being the start for Phase 4 in the MCU.
