PUCKISH PODCAST | 'My Dad Wrote a Porno'
When British writer Jaime Morton’s father handed him the draft manuscript for a novel he was working, Jaime was more than happy to give it a look. When he found that his dad had written an erotic novel, he called his friends, comedian James Cooper and radio and TV presenter Alice Levine, to launch a podcast that has now become one of the internet’s most popular.
'My Dad Wrote A Porno' is a podcast with self-explanatory content. Host Jaime Morton reads out a chapter of his father’s writings each episode, while his friends Alice and James react and provide commentary on 'Rocky Flintstone’s' (Morton Sr.’s pen name) work. All three have been friends for a long time and it shows in their banter. The jokes made could only be pulled off by the trio; if strangers were to attempt the same, it just wouldn't work.
The subject of the book (titled 'Belinda Blinked') naturally makes this podcast not safe for minors or at-work listening. But for those of us old enough to appreciate Rocky’s misunderstandings of what makes something erotic for the inadvertently brilliant comedy that it is, it is one of the funniest podcasts you could download. Episodes range from just over half an hour to just under an hour, but no matter how long the episode is you’ll be wanting the next one as soon as it is finished.
The third season has just begun, and the first two seasons are available for download. There are also interviews with some of the celebrity fans of the show, including Daisy Ridley, Elijah Wood and Michael Sheen.
Now is the perfect time to get on board, although make sure your headphones are in and the volume isn’t too high before pressing play!
