Reynolds and Jackson: the comedy duo that save 'Hitman's Bodyguard'

Bodyguard Michael Bryce (Ryan Reynolds) is hired to protect one of the world’s most notorious hitmen (Samuel L. Jackson), who must testify at the International Court of Justice against a ruthless Eastern European dictator (Gary Oldman). The men must put their differences aside and work together to make it to the trial on time.

The cast is outstanding. Reynolds and Jackson deliver fantastic comedic performances, and have great chemistry onscreen; it's this quality that really makes the film work.

Selma Hayek steals the show as Jackson’s wife, giving a hysterical performance that will have you laughing in stitches.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for Oldman, who is unexpectedly boring as the film’s villain.

Oldman - who is known for his gift of portraying tremendous antagonists, gives a dismal performance - possibly due to his seemingly underdeveloped character as the 'straight and generic bad guy' with an accent.

Despite Olman's character, Patrick Hughes ('The Expendables 3', 'Red Hill') directs an otherwise fast paced, action-packed and truly hilarious adventure. Tom O'Connor’s script may be predictable, but both the action and comedic scenes featuring Reynolds and Jackson’s clever banter shine.

Jules O'Loughlin's cinematography is remarkable, with impressive camera work and editing accompanied by a super cool soundtrack.

'Hitman’s Bodyguard' is an enjoyable popcorn movie. A terrific action-packed adventure fun for moviegoers - action and comedy fans alike.
