LADIES NIGHT | 'A Bad Moms Christmas' is in cinemas now!

'Bad Moms', released in 2016, was a real hit amongst the maternal majority. The film was a success due to its raw yet humorous take on motherhood - whether you're a single mum, or one raising not only your children but your husband as well, the film offered something for you to enjoy.

The film raised the necessary issue that women are often pressured to be 'the perfect mother'. According to society, however, there is only one textbook way to do so. Bake sales, PTA meetings, sport days, disciplining your children, and appearing well presented at all times are but a few expectations felt by mothers. Perfection isn't sustainable though, and after watching 'Bad Moms', viewers remember that imperfections are OK.

With such a great response at the Box Office, 'Bad Moms' got its deserving sequel, this time set during the holiday season, and exploring a mother's trials to see that everyone is happy on Christmas Day.

Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell and Kathryn Hahn reprise their roles as Amy, Kiki and Carla, making a pact to start a revolution: to do things differently, and make Christmas simple this year. If it is simple, surely the mothers can enjoy it too. Right However, creating the perfect simple Christmas is made harder when their own respective mothers come to town.

Christina Baranski, Cheryl Hines and Susan Sarandon join the cast as the mothers, bringing more fun, humour and reality to the film. Like the first, this sequel is so brutally honest that the audience won't know whether to laugh or cry!

Venturing into family themes, there’s something for everyone to relish in 'A Bad Moms Christmas'. Amy’s relationship with her mum is tested when her mother interferes with her Christmas plans. Controlling and stubborn Amy’s mother decides tradition is more important than simplicity, making Christmas stressful for Amy and the children. Meanwhile, Kiki is coming to realise that her relationship with her mother is in need of some outside support and decides to get counselling. Carla however is dealing with a dilemma of her own: can she trust her mother who has come back into her life after years of no contact?

Originally, 'Bad Moms' also starred Christina Applegate, but unfortunately, we only get a brief appearance from her in this sequel. It is a little disappointing as she was a favourite, however her scene could easily be labelled one of the best this film has to offer. Hopefully we will see more of Applegate if 'Bad Moms' becomes a trilogy.

In a film that will have your abs aching from laughter, viewers get a beautiful reminder on the importance of family at Christmas time. Like the first film, 'A Bad Moms Christmas' is well written, relatable and raw.

So mums, hire that cheap babysitter or tell your husband he's on his own tonight. Leave some money on the kitchen counter for a canteen lunch for the children's lunches tomorrow, and make them get their own dinner. Forget about that last load of laundry, and leave the dishes till tomorrow, because you need to treat yourself to an early Christmas gift.

Grab the girls and head out to your nearest cinema to watch 'A Bad Moms Christmas'. You know you need it!
