Highly Anticipated: 'Transformers: The Last Knight' Film, 2017
Directed by Michael Bay, the fifth instalment of the ‘Transformers’ franchise, titled ‘The Last Knight’ sees Optimus Prime searching through the cosmos for the Quintessons - the beings believed to be responsible for the creation of the Transformers’ race. Meanwhile, back at home, Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg) will face a new alien threat to bring Lennox and Epps back into duty.
‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ sees a return of actors from the previous films, including Wahlberg, Josh Duhamel as Lieutenant Colonel William Lennox, and Tyrese Gibson as Sergeant Robert Epps.
The trailer suggests that the tone of this film is different its predecessors, which may be good a thing. Besides the first film, follow ups in the franchise continued to receive poor reviews, with the fourth arguably the worst of all; this may be due to its primary focus on the human-element, rather than the Transformers themselves.
‘The Last Knight’ promises to see the return of the Autobots and the Dinobots, while new Autobots and mini Dinobots will join the team, along with the return of Megatron as the leader of the Decepticons.
Many fans suspect that Unicron – the archenemy of Primus – will make an appearance in the film, though this has not yet been confirmed.
Many hope that Michael Bay will focus on the Transformers element rather than the humans in this film, reminding audiences of the awesome appeal the franchise initially had with its fans.
Will the film follow the familiar story arc where the Decepticons are aided in their take over of earth? Will the humans take up valuable screen time in ‘The Last Knight’? Or will this film be the one to redefine the series with engaging special effects and cinematography, and a compelling storyline?
If the trailer is anything to go by, we’re thinking this will be the best ‘Transformers’ film yet.
Paramount is releasing 'Transformers: The Last Knight' in Australian cinemas 22nd June, and 23rd June 2017 in the U.K.
